Since I was a young kid, I’ve been interested in shapes, colors, building and dismantling things; which attracted me to art and kept me interested all of my life. My fondest memories include some type of art creation like drawing, building with legos, skateboarding, playing music, sculpting or painting. As a high school art student, I looked forward to learning new mediums and techniques to find new ways to create. I was awarded a scholarship to Alamance Community College to pursue their Graphic Design Program, where I learned about marketing, photography and desktop publishing. This was before the design industry moved mainly to desktop computers. A few years later I attended the School of Communication Arts at Living Arts College in Raleigh, NC and acquired a certificate in Computer Graphic Design. Learning programs like Photoshop, Illustrator and PageMaker were eye opening and gave me new ways to manipulate images and streamline my ideas. I also loved not have a mess to clean up when I was done working! Twenty-ish years later I am still constantly thinking of new ideas and ways to create art, build something or how to clean up a mess that I made while making something. In daily life, I try to see the beauty and thoughtfulness in art and design all around us and have luckily found a way to exist in this world doing something that I love and respect.
